Integr8 FAX keeps faxes coming, even during power
failures

Power supply shortages and blackouts continue to have a major impact on business development, economic growth and trade. Often it's a company's digital communication that is hardest hit.

Integr8 FAX is the platform owner of Fax M8, an established fax-to-email solution that ensures your company's fax to e-mail transmissions remain unaffected by power cuts.

The solution runs off multiple redundant fax and messaging servers that are hosted in the majority of Africa's (and soon to be United Kingdom) Tier-1 core collocation facilities. These centres are not solely reliant upon any electricity service provider and run off generators.

"If there a power failure occurs in your area and your business uses a traditional fax machine or any other device you will not receive your faxes at all - those documents are lost forever," explains Integr8 FAX CEO Walter Bredell. "Under the same conditions, however, the Integr8 FAX solution will continue to receive and deliver faxes.

"As an Integr8 Fax client, your faxes are stored for 30 days, allowing us to re-send, store and forward faxes to our clients. If you have no electricity to check your e-mail inbox for faxes, our fax server will store the faxes that were sent you and release them at a later time when you are up and running again."

This solution has captured the attention of the market owing to its low impact on the environment and the eco-friendly consideration in its design and application.

"A growing tree absorbs 13,5kg of Carbon Dioxide per year, and felling the trees required to make enough paper for the operation of fax machines in South Africa results in an additional 19, 343 tons of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere," Bredell points out. "Fax machines are usually on 24/7 to enable them to receive incoming faxes, but the majority of this time is spent in standby mode. The average power consumption of these fax machines when in standby is 8.15W2.
